Officer Michels began his law enforcement career in the United States Army as a Military Police officer and currently holds the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Army Reserve. He followed his active military service with law enforcement positions with the Department of Defense, New York State University Police - Alfred State College and most recently with the Village of Lyons Police Department where he currently works full time

Officer Michels holds an A.A.S. in Criminal Justice - Police Science from Monroe Community College and a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Keuka College.

When not at work he enjoys spending time at home with his fiance and her two daughters. He also enjoys snowmobiling, 4 wheeling and training in the martial arts. He currently holds the rank of 5th Degree Black Belt in Isshin Ryu Karate.
